Asset Search Overview

Search finds technologies, models and agents by name wherever they appear in your Bills of Materials, code and cloud environments. Use it to answer one question: where is this technology, model or agent used across our inventory? Each result shows the item, where it was found, the repository it belongs to and when that location was last scanned.

Open Search from Search at the bottom of the side menu. The page is available to users with the Bill of Materials Read permission.

Search replaces the Technology Search tab that was on the Bill of Materials page. That page now shows the notice "Technology Search has moved to Search."

What Search Covers

Search looks across these items:

  • Technologies in Bills of Materials.
  • Models in Bills of Materials, including their standardized names.
  • Agents found in code.
  • Cloud AI models from your cloud connections. These results appear only for users who also have the Cloud Assets Read permission.

Datasets and infrastructure items in Bills of Materials are not searched.

Running a Search

The page opens with the heading What Can We Help You Find? and a search box. Type the name of a technology, model or agent and click Search.

  • A search term needs 3 to 512 characters. A shorter term shows the message "Enter at least 3 characters to search."
  • Search matches part of a name and ignores case. For example, searching for "claude" returns models named Anthropic_Claude.
  • Suggestions appear as you type. Suggestions list technologies only. The search itself still returns technologies, models and agents, so type the full term and click Search to find a model or agent.

After a search runs, the page address includes the search term, for example /search?q=pandas. Opening an address in this form runs that search. Copy the address to return to the same search later or to share it with a colleague who has access to Search.

Click New Search to clear the results and start a different search.

Reading the Results

Search Results shows the number of matches next to the heading. Each row is one item and the place where it was found. The table has these columns:

  • Name: The name of the technology, model or agent as it was detected.
  • Type: The kind of item: Technology, Model or Agent.
  • Source: Where the item was found: BOM, Cloud or Code.
  • Found In: The Bill of Materials, cloud connection or agent source that holds the item. Click the link to open it.
  • Repository: The repository associated with that location. Click the link to open the repository.
  • Last Scanned: The date and time the location was last scanned.
  • Version: The version of the item that was detected. This column is filled in for technologies only.
  • File Path: The file in the repository where the item was found. When the item appears in more than one file in the same location, the files are listed in one row, separated by commas. This column is filled in for technologies only.

A dash in Version or File Path means the column does not apply to that item or no value was detected.

To sort the results, click the Name, Type, Source, Found In or Last Scanned column heading.

Results show 20 rows per page by default. Use the rows menu at the bottom left of the table to change how many rows appear, and the page numbers at the bottom right to move between pages. The search term is the only filter.

Customizing the Table

Click Customize Table to open Customize Table Columns. Use it to choose which columns appear and in what order.

  • Drag a column by its handle to move it up or down the list.
  • Click the eye icon to show or hide a column. Name is locked and always appears.
  • Click Save Table Column Configuration to apply your changes, or Cancel to close without saving.

Exporting Results

Click Export to download every result for the current search term as a CSV file. The export includes all results, not only the page on screen. The file is named Asset Search Export <UTC timestamp>.csv.

The export has these columns:

  • Asset Name: The name of the technology, model or agent.
  • Asset Type: The kind of item: Technology, Model or Agent.
  • Source: Where the item was found: BOM, Cloud or Code.
  • Source Entity Id: The identifier of the Bill of Materials, cloud connection or agent source where the item was found.
  • Source Entity Name: The name of that Bill of Materials, cloud connection or agent source.
  • Version: The version of the item that was detected, for technologies.
  • File Path: The file or files in the repository where the item was found, for technologies.
  • Repository URL: The repository associated with that location.
  • Cloud Provider: The cloud provider of a cloud AI model.
  • Connection Id: The identifier of the cloud connection where a cloud AI model was found.
  • Last Updated: The date and time the item's record was last updated.

An item with two version values appears as one row in the export.

If You Used the Previous Export

Before this change, the export was named Packages Export and had the columns Bill Of Materials Id, Bill Of Materials Name, Package Name, Version, File Path, Repository URL, Last Scanned Date and AI-Based. Update any spreadsheet or script that reads the export by file name or column name so it uses the new file name and columns.
